Dianne Ashley Council

    Dianne Ashley Council, 76, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Apex, NC and graduated from Apex High School, Class of 1965. She married her high school sweetheart, Linwood Council, on December 17, 1966. They celebrated 57 years of marriage. Following graduation, she was employed by the State of North Carolina, serving in administrative roles. Dianne was also an executive assistant at Edward Weck for 18 years.

    Dianne is predeceased by her parents, Jay Lee and Mallie Jones Ashley and son-in-law, Kyle Martin. Surviving is her husband, Linwood Council of Dunn, NC, and her daughters Cindy (Donnie) King of Stella, NC, and Christie (Doug) Hampton of Dunn, NC. She was blessed with many grandchildren: Tyler King of Wilmington, NC; Josh (Audrey) King of Boise, ID; Owen Martin of Raleigh, NC; Brandy (Michael) Pierce of Dunn, NC; Logan Ludwig of Everett, WA; and Holden Martin of Stella, NC; two great grandchildren Marlo and newborn baby, both from Boise, ID. Also survived by nieces and nephews, John (Diane) Howard, Jody Howard, Crystal (Dwayne) Thomas, Wendy (Stephen) Lynn, and many cousins, great nieces, and nephews.

    While Dianne battled with Alzheimer’s disease late in her life, she maintained her sweet and loving disposition. Dianne never lost her faith and love, and even though she struggled with cognitive thinking, she always continued her relationship with our heavenly Father. Our family is at peace knowing that her relationship with the Lord continues in heaven as it was on earth. She had a deep love for her family and her dog, Cookie.

    A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 10, with visitation at 10 AM and service following at 11 AM, Prospect Free Will Baptist Church, 873 Prospect Church Rd, Dunn, NC 28334.

    In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Prospect Free Will Baptist Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Arrangements by West & Dunn Funeral Home.
