Donald “Donnie” Robert Braswell

Captain Donnie Braswell, 83, of Marathon, Florida passed away on February 17, 2025 at the Miami VA Health Care System in Dade County Florida. He was born in July 13, 1941 in Johnston County, North Carolina to the late Robert Glenn and Dorette Hinnant Braswell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Braswell.

Donnie was a charter captain for 64 years. He was more of an entertainer. His passions were fishing, hunting and air boating. He graduated from Pine Level High School in Pine Level, NC. Donnie was also and US Army Veteran. While in the army he was in Vietnam war in 1968 – 1969. While in Vietnam he was captured by Viet Cong but escaped. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Tammy Braswell of Marathon, Florida; son, Steven Braswell of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and his brother Gary Braswell of Texas.

A Graveside Service will be at 11:00 am, Friday, June 6, 2025 at Hephzibah Baptist Church Cemetery, 4633 US Hwy 70 E., Princeton, NC 27569.
