Donald Lee King

    Donald Lee King, 82, of Princeton passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 12, 2024. Donald (Don) was born on February 21, 1942 to Arnold and Esther Braswell King. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Fritz.

    Don served in the US Army in the Military police. He worked for 30 years at Pitney Bowes before retiring. He continued to stay active after retirement and enjoyed wood working in his shop.

    Don was a devoted member of Hephzibah Baptist Church and had a deep faith in Jesus Christ. Through the years, Don served in served in several roles in the church. He was a Sunday School Teacher and a Deacon. Don worked on many tasks and was blessed to go on several mission trips to other churches both in the United State and abroad, participating in building projects for those in need.

    Don is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda Gurley King; sons, Lee King (Doris) of Wilmington, and Scott King (Dori) of Princeton; daughter, Jill King of Princeton and five grandchildren, Jacob, Henry, Matthew, Sierra, and Karsyn King. Don also had many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.

    The family will receive friends on Tuesday night, May 14, 2024 from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Hephzibah Baptist Church, 4633 US Hwy 70 E., Princeton, NC 27569.

    The funeral service will also be held at Hephzibah Baptist Church at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 with the Reverend Kevin Drake officiating. A graveside service will be held in the Hephzibah Baptist Church Cemetery at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.

    Although flowers are welcome, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Hephzibah Baptist Church Multi-Purpose Building Fund in honor of Don.
