Dorothy Jean Martin Smith, 83 of Clayton, NC. Passed away on Jan 6, 2023 after a short illness. Dot was born February 27, 1939 in Imlertown, PA to James E Martin and Patricia M Wertz.
After Dot graduated from Bedford High in 1957, she became the secretary for the school systems. In 1958, Dot met George on a blind date in Washington, DC then married in August 1962. Dot and George went on to have 4 children, Mark A, Gregory G, Troy M, Melissa J. She retired from St Mary’s County, MD Sheriff Office. She loved to sew, read books, and camping/travel with family.
Dorothy was predeceased by James & Patricia Martin (parents). Dorothy is survived by her husband George, sons Mark (Michele), Greg (Anne), Troy (Judy), Melissa. 8 Grandchildren, 12 Great-Grandchildren. Sister Cora Sue Sheirer, Brother Jim (Janet). Many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Clayton, NC on Tuesday Jan 10th at 10am. The burial will take place in Bedford, PA at a later date.
