Edward “Bud” Filicky 93 of Smithfield, NC passed to his eternal life surrounded by family March 18th, 2023. His spirit is carried on by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. Filicky served in the US Army from 1952 -1960, serving as part of the occupying force in Germany after World War II. In 1993 he retired from Fina Oil Company where he worked as the superintendent of the Smithfield terminal. He was an active member of Whitley Memorial United Methodist Church for the last 55 years. He loved to travel, always looking forward to our trip to Topsail Island, it was a family tradition. He enjoyed being a part of the Johnston County wildlife club. He was an avid gardener who loved sharing his bounty. He also had a magical workshop and could create anything! He was a wonderful husband, father, Papap and friend. We will miss him every day.
Bud was born in Hunker, PA to the late Thomas J. Filicky and Emma J. Filicky. He was preceded in death along with his parents by his wife of 69 years Mary Louise Filicky and brother Thomas E. Filicky.
Bud is survived by children Carol Woodell (Van), John Filicky (Pam), Barbie Davis, bonus daughter Rhonda Stanley, Sister; Kathleen Trout (Nelson), Sister -in-law; Barbara Wineman (George), Grandchildren; Marisa Allen (Marc), Mandi Woodell (Dave), Emily Mills (Aaron), Joshua Cooper (Julie), Jonathon Cooper (Megan), Nathan Adams (Katheryn),great grandchildren Eliana Criado, Gia Allen and Jack Cooper. A host of nieces and nephews and his beloved kitty cats, Missy, Geo & Loki.
A celebration of life service is planned for a later date at Whitley Memorial United Methodist Church, 300 Wilson’s Mills Road, Smithfield, NC 27577. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Whitley Memorial United Methodist Church, Smithfield, NC.
