Four Oaks, NC: Mrs. Effie Thompson Baker, age 98, of Boyette Road passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Four Oaks. Burial will follow in Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens in Smithfield. Revs. Della Grace Hargis and Murray King will officiate.
Mrs. Baker was born on September 6, 1925 in Johnston County, NC to the late Percy Daniel and Rose Etta Grant Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “W.J.” Baker; a daughter, Gloria Bundy; a son, Craig Baker; and several sisters and brothers. Mrs. Baker was a member of Piney Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 35 years and played the piano. Mrs. Baker was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and baking. She loved spending time with her friends and family.
Survivors include her children, Alice Turnage of Four Oaks, Greg Baker and wife, Darlene, of Pine Level; son-in-law, Herb Bundy of Four Oaks; grandchildren, Chris Strickland and wife, Karen, Shawn Turnage, Brad Baker and wife, Dana, Kayla Boykin and husband, Tyler; great-grandchildren, Tyler Strickland, Kady Strickland, Brayden Baker, and Sawyer Baker; special friend, Jennifer Snead; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:30PM to 1:45PM on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks and other times at the home.
