Elton Lassiter Pierce, age 82, died Monday, January 23, 2023 at Wake Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born April 11, 1940 in Smithfield, he was the son of the late Charlie Auby and Annie Oliver Pierce. He was preceded in death by his siblings; Raymond Pierce, Mildred McClenny, Edith Winn, Janie Meiser, Melvin Pierce and Charles Pierce.
He enjoyed watching Carolina basketball and Nascar races, but he loved most was to watch old Westerns. No matter how many times he had seen it he still watched it as if it were a new episode.
The family will receive friends at Parrish Funeral Home on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 2 PM to 3 PM. The funeral service will follow at 3 PM with Reverend Matthew Cornett officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Heights Cemetery in Smithfield.
Elton is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris Pierce, daughter Deborah Hardison and husband Chuck of Pine Level and daughter Rhonda Mott and husband Leigh of Raleigh. Elton adored his 5 grandchildren and always made sure he provided anything they needed. His grandchildren are Spencer Hardison, Caroline Hardison Parker married to Kyler, Dylan Mott married to Logan, Reagan Mott Carlin married to Sean and Jakob Mott. As well as his Great Grandchildren Mason, Leighton and Kensington Mott. He is survived by his brother Leland Pierce along with several nieces and nephews.
Elton worked for Winn Dixie and then was drafted into the United States Army in 1962 and served our country for 3 years. He returned home to continue his Winn Dixie career and retired after 42 years. Upon retiring he started working for Realo Drug in Smithfield. He loved Mitch LeQuire and all the girls he worked with like family. He was still very active and continued working 40 hours a week delivering medication to his surrounding towns. Elton will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
