Frances Lee Williams was born in Smithfield, North Carolina to the late John and Mamie Williams. After a short battle with a rare, and aggressive, terminal diagnosis, she WON! That’s right, no loss here. She finally won the victory at 11:55pm, Saturday April 26th, 2025.

Frances received her education beginning at Johnston County Training School. She graduated from Anacostia Senior Highschool in Washington, D.C. Later, she matriculated at the District of Columbia College. Following her education, she worked 7 years for the D.C. Government. From there, she began her career with Sears and Roebuck there in the Capitol. She later transferred to the Six Forks Road location in Raleigh, NC. As a valuable asset to the Finance Department, she became acquainted with many people, developed many relationships, and formed many long-standing friendships by her retirement 21 years later.

As a dedicated, and devout servant of Christ, she gave her life to the mission of Evans Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church. With over 40 years of steadfast membership, through the tenure of several pastors, she served as the Steward Pro-Tem, Missionary President, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Church Treasurer, Class leader, and roles too numerous to list. As a formally capped missionary for over 25 years, she was recognized for her longevity with the Women’s Missionary Society in the year 2023 by the North Carolina Conference of the 2nd Episcopal District with the “Life Legacy Award.” Alongside her Spiritual involvement, she served civically as the Chair of the Johnston County Democratic Party Precent 2 in West Smithfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Her brother, John Williams Jr. (affectionally known as “June”), a sister Leather McDaniel, One Son, Harold Williams, and one daughter Claudette Williams.

Frances leaves to cherish her memory, Her son: Anthony Williams (Dr. Shannon) of Upper Marlboro, MD, Her Daughter: First Lady Krisceda Johnson (Rev. Howard) of Kinston, NC; 8 grandchildren Felicia, Torian, Tiffany, LaMale Sr., Natasha, JaHarold, Justin, and Jamilla; 16 Great grandchildren, Donecia, Richard II, Zemashia, Cierra, Kayla, Brianna, Christy, A Very Special Great Grandson Elder LaMale (Minister TaShina), Essence, NaaLiyah (Reginald), Ne’Asha, Ne’Tecier, NaaMiyah, Julian, Davion, Moriah, Brielle; 11 great-great grandchildren Korbyn, Kailyn, Camiyah, Zion, Moriah, Nasir, Bentley, Ry’Mir, Ny’Lah, Kyhrie, and Kyndall; Three Sisters Vivian White, Bettie Godwin (Ned), Patricia Wiggins; One Special Brother-In-Law Napoleon McDaniel affectionally known as “Anderson”; One Special Friend Thelma Williams, two bonus daughters Margaret Sydnor and Doris Wallace; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

The family will receive friends beginning April 29th 12noon-6pm daily at 410 Birch Street Smithfield NC 27577.
