Freda Mae Dublin

    Birth Date: 05/22/1953
    Deceased Date: 08/12/2022

Obituary On Friday, August 12, 2022, after being surrounded by her family, and according to the divine plan of Our Heavenly Father, an angel was dispatched and called to eternal rest, our beloved, Freda Mae Dublin (affectionately known as Free Free). Freda was born May 22, 1953, in Smithfield NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents Johnnie Pennie and Margaret Smith, sister Eloise Pennie, and three brothers, Joel Morrow Dublin, Charles Edward Dublin Sr., and John Berry Pennie.

She was educated in the Johnston County Public School System and a graduate of the 1971 class at Smithfield-Selma Senior High School. After graduation, she continued her education at The Raleigh School of Data Processing. She was employed as a telephone customer service representative at the NC Department of Motor Vehicle and retired in November of 2000.

Freda accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Burning Bush Holiness Tabernacle Church in Smithfield, NC, and remained a faithful, dedicated, committed, and loyal member until her death. She had a strong faith in God. Freda exemplified the scripture “By this shall all men know ye are my disciples”. She had a strong spirit; loved the Word of God, and rightly divided it. She was generous and loved to help people. God had given her The Ministry of “Helps and Teaching the Word of God.’’

In the church she served as the President of the Usher’s Ministry, Dean of the Bible Institute for over 25 years; Sunday School Teacher; and a member of the Missionary Circle. On her life journey, she was faced with many health challenges. They sometimes would try and get the best of her spirit, but she would rely on the Word that she had so often taught to others. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding”. So Through it all ….. Freda learned to Trust in God.

Freda was a great sister and sister-in-law, and a special and awesome aunt. Although she never birthed any biological children, she was a mother to many). She had a special love for her brothers-in-law (They all took a great interest in her and made sure she was well cared for). They even renamed her Maebelle.

She leaves to cherish her memory six sisters: Mary Hall of Washington DC, Alice Lee (Bennie), Joann Hocutt, and Thelma Dublin-Evans all of Smithfield, NC, Annette Scott (Nathaniel Sr.) of Garner NC. and Melissa London (Charles) of Norfolk, VA; Two Brothers, Phillip Dublin (Cassandra) of Smithfield NC and Timothy Pennie of Petersburg, Virginia. One sister-in-law, Ruth Dublin. Two Aunts, Bishop Eloise Sessoms of Wilson NC, and Pauline Smith-Sanders of Smithfield NC. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Her loving Caregivers: Elder Roselyn Gibson, Minister Elijah Gibson, Ms. Candy Williams, and Ms. Teresa Hawes.

Through it All, I learned to trust in Jesus, I learned to trust in God. Through it All, I learned to depend upon his WORD
