Coats, NC: Mrs. Gloria Flynn Byrd, age 74, of Live Oak Road joined her Lord on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM-Friday, July 1, 2022 at Piney Grove Chapel Church in Angier. Revs. Timmy Blair, Jack Robins, and Lewis Benton will officiate. Interment will follow in Devotional Gardens in Dunn.
Mrs. Byrd was born on October 24, 1947 in Lexington, NC to the late Thomas P. and Ethel Cook Flynn. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Alan P. Flynn and Jimmy Flynn. Gloria moved to Oak Island, NC in 1967 and worked for 35 years as stevedoring manager at the Military Ocean Terminal, Sunny Point, NC. She was a member of Piney Grove Chapel Church in Angier.
Surviving includes her loving husband of 25 years, Huber Glenwood “Glen” Byrd, Sr.; step-children, Glen Byrd, Jr. and wife, Petra, Andrew Byrd and wife, Amy; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Flynn and wife, Lily of Lexington, NC; sisters-in-law, Betty Flynn of Lexington, NC and Faye Byrd and Family; several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 12:30PM to 1:45PM on Friday, July 1, 2022 prior to the service at Piney Grove Chapel Church in the sanctuary and other times at the home.
