Gus Drellos

Birth Date: 12/01/1945
Deceased Date: 08/08/2025

Gus Drellos, age 79, passed away unexpectedly on August 8, 2025 near his home in Clayton, NC. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by this sudden loss.

Gus was born on December 1, 1945, in Queens, NY, the beloved son of the late Daniel and Catherine Drellos. Gus proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a devoted husband of 45 years, to the love of his life, the late Eileen Drellos, and a loving and supportive father and grandfather.

He is survived and missed by his children, Daniel and his wife Brooke, Christopher, and Jennifer and her husband Jason. Forever cherished and remembered by his five grandchildren, Christopher, Brian, Jack, Noah and Kate; as well as his dear sister, Teresa Elliot.

Gus will be remembered for his incredibly strong work ethic, quick witted sense of humor, and his love and dedication to his family. He remained true to his time in his love of the music of the 50’s and 60’s, his unforgettable “quaffed” hairstyle, even his 50’s clothing style. He was an avid storyteller, and many enjoyed listening to the memories he would share.

Gus’ parents immigrated to New York from Athens, Greece. He was born and raised in Queens, NY where he also started his family with Eileen. Eventually they settled down in Merrick, NY, raising his family and working for Moore Business Forms, for 46 faithful years. Gus was often found working in the garage on cars, or outside projects with his sons, passing down his knowledge to the next generation.

Later in life he made his way down to North Carolina, and began enjoying NASCAR with his daughter and son in law, frequenting a few of the local restaurants, making friends with his witty comments wherever he went. He was a man of integrity, beloved by everyone who knew him, and absolutely unforgettable. His legacy will live on through everyone that his life touched.

A visitation for Gus’ North Carolina friends and family will be held at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma at a TBD date.

A Celebration of Life will be held in New York at Queen of All Saints in Central Islip, where Gus’ final resting place will be with his wife, Eileen.
