Howard Neal Strickland, age 83, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024, in Raleigh, NC. Born in Sampson County on November 8, 1940, he was a son to the late Charles Neal Strickland and Lillian Johnson Strickland.
Howard worked for over 30 years as a maintenance department supervisor at N.C. State University where he retired. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and RV travel with his wife Ann, with one adventure taking them as far as Alaska. Howard also served as a former president and member of Alcoholics Anonymous with over 50 years of sobriety that he was proud of.
Howard had great neighbors whom he considered some of his closest friends. These friends were instrumental in providing meals, rides to appointments, and most of all love these last few years.
In addition to his parents, Howard is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ann Strickland.
He is survived by his sons, William “Bill” Odie Bradley and his wife Marlene, Noel Weldon Bradley and his wife Juanita; sister, Mary Annette Bordeaux; niece, Valerie Ann Williams, her husband Tommy, and their 3 children; grandchildren, Lesley Smith Carroll, Stephanie Bradley Amick, Sharon Bradley Schaaf, Garrett Noel Bradley, Jason Carter Bradley; great grandchildren, Haley Carroll, Austin Bradley, Kallan Bradley, Hayden Schaaf, Carter Schaaf, Carter Bradley, Jace Carroll, Gavin Schaaf, Cameron Amick, Fisher Bradley, Autumn Bradley, and Logan Amick.
