Janell Lassiter Goodman, age 84, died Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Abbotswood Retirement Community, Greensboro, NC. Funeral Services will be held 12:00 PM Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Wilson’s Mills Baptist Church 952 Swift Creek Road, Smithfield, NC 27577. Burial will follow in Hills of The Neuse Memory Gardens, Smithfield, NC.
She was born Janell Byrd Lassiter on March 5, 1938 in Wilson’s Mills to the late David Bruce Lassiter and Mable Byrd Lassiter. Janell was preceded in death by her sister, Sue Evelyn Lassiter Crocker, her brother, Isaac Steel Lassiter, and her husband of 57 years, Henry Harper Goodman. She was a member of Wilson’s Mills Baptist Church. She was a compassionate wife, a wonderful mother, a nurturing grandmother, a loyal friend, a truly gifted teacher, and a humble but very energetic community servant. She will be deeply missed by all who have had the pleasure of knowing her.
Janell is survived by her son, Roger M. Goodman (Michelle), grandchildren, Tyler and Austin Goodman, sister Annette Lassiter Alcock (Randall), brother, Brian Kay Lassiter, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 10:45 AM – 11:45 AM, Saturday March 4, 2023 prior to funeral service at Wilson’s Mills Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Janell’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society of NC and/or the NC Alzheimer’s Association.
