Jaxie Louise Bryan, age 70, of the Jordans Chapel Community passed away on Tuesday, June 3 at UNC Wayne Health Hospital with family by her side. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 6 at Jordans Chapel Baptist Church, located at 5663 US Hwy. 13 South, Mount Olive. Visitation will be from 12:00 til 1:00pm and her funeral service will begin at 1:00pm with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Jaxie was a farmer at heart. She loved the land and had a passion for her cows, horses and never shied away from hard work. Early to bed and early to rise she worked tirelessly around the farm.
After graduating Southern Wayne High School in 1973, Jaxie attended and graduated from Appalachian State University with a master’s degree in Library Science. After a year as a Librarian, she moved to Texas where she worked and lived for some 25 years, with her lifelong friend, Jack Enrietta. While there, she still had her love for animals – dogs, horses, cows and love for the land. In the early 2000s, they moved back to North Carolina to the overwhelming joy of her family, especially her father. Since back in the area, she has been the main caregiver for her family. She was a lifelong member of Jordans Chapel Baptist and loved her church family. She was also one of the main biscuit makers for the church’s bi-monthly breakfast fundraiser, and willing to help in any capacity when asked. She will be sorely missed.
Jaxie leaves to cherish her memories, friend, Jack Enrietta, her mother, Mary Lois Bryan, and brother David O. Bryan, III, brother, Stephen E. Bryan and wife Lynette, nephew Michael Corey Bryan and wife Valarie, grand-niece Alyssa and grand-nephew Ayden, and all the people who ever had contact with her.
Jaxie was preceded in death by her father, David O. Bryan, Jr., her paternal grandparents David O. Bryan, Sr. and Daisy Hollingsworth Bryan, her maternal grandparents, Stephen Earl Griffin and Mable Louise Griffin.
