Cary, NC: Mr. Jimmy Earl Tew, age 66, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2022 at the Jim and Betsy Bryan UNC Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Service will be 1:00 PM, Monday, September 12, 2022 at Cary Church, 107 Quade Drive, Cary, NC 27513. Rev. Clint Claypoole will officiate. Family will receive friends for a short period of time following the service. A Graveside Service will be held at 3:30PM on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Harnett Devotional Gardens in Dunn officiated by Rev. Jimmy Boyd.
Mr. Tew was born on February 19, 1956 in Harnett County to the late Joel Sampson and Sarah Avis Hudson Tew. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Joel Sampson Tew, Jr., Glenwood Erastus Tew, Gary Wayne Tew. Mr. Tew retired after 36 years of service from the North Carolina Department of Justice as a computer programmer. He had a heart for the youth and served many years as a mentor. He was a loving husband, a proud father and grandfather. Mr. Tew had an unwavering Christian faith and was a member of the Cary Church.
Surviving include his wife of 46 years, Bonnie Hargis Tew; children, Jason Andrew Tew and wife, LeAnn of Greenville, NC; Alan Nathan Tew and wife, Alaina of Emerald Isle, NC; grandchildren, Kaylee Tew, Cole Tew, Caleb Tew, Cason Tew, Aiden Tew, and Ava Tew; sisters and brother, Lois Lee and husband, James of Dunn, Ernestine Tart and husband, Dwight of Emerald Isle, Ricky Tew and wife, Carolyn of Garner, Kathy Woodlief and husband, Alan of Wake Forest; sister-in-law, Judy Tew of Coats; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers; memorials may be made to the Cary Church Youth, 107 Quade Drive, Cary, NC 27513.
