Benson, NC: Mrs. JoAnn Massengill Johnson, age 75, of Camelia Road died Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the UNC Johnston Health Hospital in Smithfield surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be 3:00PM Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Rev. Virgil Murphy will officiate. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Benson.
Mrs. Johnson was born September 14, 1948 in Johnston County to the late Albert and Katherine Allen Massengill. She retired from the State of North Carolina after 32 years of service. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed her Sunshine Club and was a member of Johnson’s Chapel Church. She enjoyed going to White Lake. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed cooking and entertaining her family and friends. She loved her little dog, Kelsie.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Gerald Johnson; sons, Michael Johnson and wife, Jennifer of Benson, Jonathan Johnson and wife, Becky of Bexley, OH; grandson, Matthew Johnson; sister, Sue Massengill and husband, Roy of Four Oaks; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson on Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 2:00PM to 2:45PM prior to the service and other times at the home.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Johnson’s Chapel Church, 5386 Johnsons Chapel Road, Benson, NC 27504.
