John Randolph Gelina, 78, of Pikeville, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at UNC Wayne Hospital in Goldsboro. John was born in Dorchester County, SC, on August 4, 1943 to the late Moses John Gelina and Alma Macky Gelina.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his wife, Angela Lucarelli Gelina and sister, Juliet Blair.
John is survived by his children, Karen S. Gelina, Linda E. VonHaugg and husband Morgan, John Gelina, Jr. and wife Crystal; grandchildren, Morgan VonHaugg II and wife Johnsie, Cassandra Harman and husband Jason, Sarah Barefoot and husband Nicholas, Dylan Gelina, Hannah Gelina, Jacob Gelina; two great grandchildren, Elleanor Barefoot, Emelia Barefoot; brother, Charles Gelina and wife Elaine; sisters, Lucille Lucarelli, Elizabeth Lejewski, and several other family and friends.
John was an avid hunter and fisher. He enjoyed anything outdoors especially being on his boat. Most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed but precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations in Princeton.
Although flowers are welcome, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
