Jose Maria Guerra, age 73, died Thursday morning in UNC Johnston Health, following a period of declining health. He was born September 12, 1949 in Choloma, Cortes, Honduras to the late Eulalio Pineda and Marcelina Guerra. Jose, along with his wife, was the owner of the Alondra’s Restaurant in Selma since 2000. Prior to that he worked in commercial construction
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 5, 2023 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be conducted at a later date in the Selma Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are his wife, Maria Del Carmen Serrano; sons, Edwin Diaz of Selma and Fredix Guerra of Raleigh; daughters, Tania Melissa Palmer of Dunn and Karla Mable Guerra of Selma; brothers, Jacinto Guerra and Miguel Guerra; sisters, Victorina Pineda and Lucia Pineda; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

José María Guerra, de 73 años, murió el jueves por la mañana en UNC Johnston Health, luego de un período de deterioro de la salud. Nació el 12 de septiembre de 1949 en Choloma, Cortés, Honduras, hijo de Eulalio Pineda y Marcelina Guerra. José, junto con su esposa, era el propietario del restaurante Alondra’s en Selma desde el año 2000. Antes de eso, trabajó en la construcción comercial.
La familia recibirá a los amigos el sábado 5 de agosto de 2023 en la capilla de Parrish Funeral Home. Un servicio privado junto a la tumba se llevará a cabo en una fecha posterior en Selma Memorial Gardens.
