Joseph Franklin “Joe” Mitchell, age 84 died Wednesday afternoon, December 7, 2022 at his home. Born October 26, 1938 in Johnston County to the late Lovette and Viola Parnell Mitchell, he was preceded in death by all of his siblings, Louise Jones, Alice Peedin, Mary Boykin, James Mitchell, Kenneth Mitchell, Elwood Mitchell and Donnie Mitchell. Joe was a carpenter by trade and helped to build many homes in and around Selma. He was also a member of Crumpler’s Crossroads Church of God of Prophecy.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Alma Lee Mitchell; daughters, Tammy D. Baynor and her husband John of Selma and Pamela J. Snead and husband Ashley of Four Oaks and three grandchildren, Wells F. Edwards, III, Taylor Snead and Tyler Snead.
