Smithfield- Joyce Marie Morehead Burkett, age 80, passed away on April 15, 2022 at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh. Born in Ardmore Oklahoma on February 19, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Margret Morehead. Joyce graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1960 with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. Joyce was a very creative person and excelled in art. She especially excelled in photography and painting.
The family will be scattering Joyce’s ashes in Montana, her favorite place.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 33 years, Leo Burkett, two children, and two grandchildren.
