Selma – Kenneth Ray Howell, “Ray” age 75, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh. Born in Johnston County on September 15, 1946, he was a son of the late Raymond Eli Howell and Virginia Pauline Taylor Howell. Ray was an Army veteran and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and four-wheeling. He enjoyed participating in an archery club, which he was very skilled at and won many awards for. Ray was a kind-hearted man who loved life and loved his family dearly.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 3:00pm. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm-3:00pm, just prior to the service. Family and friends will gather at Alicia and Charlie’s home at 15 Bull Dr, Princeton, NC 27569.
In addition to his parents, Ray is preceded in death by his first wife, Debora Green Howell, and brother, Phillip Wayne Howell.
He is survived by his wife, Bettie Britt Howell of Micro; daughter, Alicia Pope and husband Charles of Princeton; sons, Larry Edwards and wife Darlene of Smithfield; Ken Edwards and wife Johnette of Princeton; sisters, Barbara Howell of Surf City; Frank Howell of Selma; Sandra Norris and husband Jerry of Pine Level; Pam Starling and husband Danny of Selma; 6 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Ray’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Shriners Hospitals for Children, or Johnston Community Church of God of Prophecy.
