Kimberly Denise Bagley McDuffie was born on January 18, 1968, to Linda and Herman Bagley in Johnston County, North Carolina. On Saturday, September 6, 2025, as dawn was breaking, God in His infinite wisdom gently picked Kim up and carried her home. In the twinkling of an eye, Kimwas strong and whole again—no more pain, suffering, or sorrow. Kim grew up in Selma surrounded by relatives and friends. If anything oranyone threatened them, they had to answer to her, because she was fiercely protective of those she loved. Kim was always ready to step in and lend a helping hand. She attended elementary and middle school in the Selma area and graduated from Smithfield-Selma Senior High in June 1982.

During her time there, she was a dedicated member of the R.O.T.C. Kim’s curiosity, boldness of spirit, and desire to expand her knowledge motivated her to join the Job Corps, where she completed the program in Albany, Georgia. Her love of learning compelled her to continue her education. She attended and graduated from Mt. Olive College with a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Development. Kim was a very hard worker, but her true passion was caring for children of all ages. Her degree, credentials, and certifications helped secure operatinglicenses for several childcare centers. Kim was a workaholic, but she never considered it work because she loved what she was doing. She worked as a CNA II at Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro as well as a number of childcare centers in Johnston and Wayne Counties.

Kim joined St. Stephens Church of Christ at an early age. No matter where she went or what was happening in her life, she always leaned and depended on the Lord. Though her health began to fail, her faith never wavered because she trusted God with all her might. After moving to Harnett County, Kim faced many medical challenges but never gave up, no matter what the doctors said. She joined Free Will Bethel OFWB under the leadership of Pastor Theresa Walser, who shepherded her through difficult times and provided transportation to and from church to ensure Kim’s spiritual health received the same care as her physical health.

Kim leaves to cherish her precious memories: her mother, Linda B. Brown of Selma; her father, Herman Bagley (Helen) of Smithfield; daughters, Kiyahri McDuffie of Raleigh, Danita McDuffie of Greensboro, and Megan and Nakita McLean of Georgia; son, Jalil Toler McDuffie of Goldsboro; her husband, Mr. Terry McDuffie; brothers, Maurice Bagley of New York, Jeffrey Lynn (Bridgette) of Raleigh; stepbrothers, James Batts (Felicia) of Erwin and Larry (Odetta) of Four Oaks; niece, Lakisha Eddings of Charlotte; nephew, Maurice “Lil Mo” Bagley II of Atlanta; uncles, Morris Rawlings of Erwin Township, New Jersey, and Larry Rawlings of Princeton, NC; aunt, Joan Bagley of Philadelphia, PA; godson, Deamontae Mitchell; and a host of relatives and friends.
