Benson, NC: Mrs. Linda Faye Evans Jernigan, age 83, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024 at her daughter’s residence surrounded by her loving family. Graveside Funeral Services will be 3:00PM-Monday, January 29, 2024 at Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery in Benson. Rev. Cha Parker will officiate.
Mrs. Jernigan was born on January 9, 1941 in Johnston County, NC to the late Sampson Roosevelt and Ethel Lee Evans. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Jernigan; daughter, Linda Dudley; brothers and sisters, Owen Evans, Elvin Evans, Barbara Norris, Jimmy Evans, Carolyn Jones, Kenneth Evans, Tony Evans, and Junior Evans.
Mrs. Jernigan retired from textiles, was a homemaker, and a great seamstress. One of her favorite things in life was to enjoy a strawberry or chocolate milkshake and pizza. Mrs. Jernigan loved to travel to the mountains and loved to go to the beach and fish. She was a member of Stone’s Creek Advent Christian Church.
Survivors include her children, Teresa Cook of Four Oaks, Cindy Herring and husband, Jay of Dunn, Brian Jernigan of Benson; step-son, Ricky Jernigan and wife, Teresa of Coats; grandchildren, Crystal Knuckles, Buckwheat Blackman, Travis Cook, Hailee Jernigan, and Brysan Jernigan; step-grandchildren, Patsy Walker, Christy Dupree, Mindy Williams, Brad Herring, Chad Herring, and Eric Herring; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Elgie Lee of Benson, Joyce Blackmon of Dunn; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service.
