Linwood Clifford Giggey, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at his home in Pine Level. He was born in Penobscot County, Maine on October 2, 1936 to the late Loomis O. Giggey and Doris L. Giggey. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Michael Giggey, and brother, Robert Giggey.
Linwood was a very mechanically gifted man with an entrepreneurial spirit. He owned and operated several successful machine shops during his lifetime including a precision metal fabrication facility in Pine Level which produced various components for the Department of Defense. He took pride and pleasure in his work and serving his loyal customers.
Linwood had a love of aviation and was a private pilot. He also enjoyed working on cars and his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Most of all, he loved his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Linwood is survived by his wife of 68 years, Beverly Willette Giggey, of the home. His sons, Lenny Giggey and wife Janice, of the Cleveland Community; David Giggey of Princeton; Kris Giggey of Pine Level; daughters, Denise Jones of Smithfield; Lori Giggey of Princeton; sister, Glenda Carlisle of Charlotte; grandchildren Eric Miner, Daryl Jones, Justin Mitchell, Ryan Giggey, Michael Giggey, Jr., Alexander Lindstrom; great-grandchildren Kason Miner, Ashton Miner, Asher Jones, Carter Jones, Graham Giggey, McKenzie Giggey, Kenzlee Lindstrom, and Karsyn Nixon.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Little Creek Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2585 Little Creek Church Road, Clayton, North Carolina.
