Birth Date: 12/22/1954
Deceased Date: 08/22/2024
Lucy “Lou” Ellen Carraway Spence, 69, of Newton Grove passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, August 22, 2024.
She was born on December 22, 1954 in Forsyth County to the late Benjamin Franklin Carraway and Sally Isabel Anderson Carraway.
She is preceded in death by a brother Gary Franklin Carraway.
She is loved and survived by her husband of 47 years, Edward “Eddie” Earl Spence; daughter, Lisa Castellon and husband Oscar of Raleigh, NC; son, Christopher Spence and wife Linda of Beulaville, NC; and grandchildren, Antonio, Ana, Miranda, Michael and Waylon.
Lou was an incredibly selfless woman who always thought about others before herself. She was known to be a loving person who loved everybody she met. She also enjoyed getting dolled up, with her hair done and jewelry on.
Her grandchildren were her world. She spent a lot of her time bonding with her babies, from coloring pictures, playing with dolls to jumping on the trampoline. Even when she was in pain, she would make sure that she spent that precious time with her grandchildren. It made her so happy to receive pictures from them that they created. To them, she was the World’s Best Grandma.
She also enjoyed sports such as basketball, and was a huge wrestling fan thanks to her uncle. She loved horror movies such as the Halloween series, Supernatural, Charmed and Snapped. Lucy was also a huge UNC Tarheels fan and enjoyed the Steelers.
