Martha Yvonne Lane

Martha Yvonne Lane, 80, of Smithfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2025, at the SECU Hospice House. Born May 19, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Nathaniel Ruffin Tingen and Sadie Thigpen Tingen. In addition to her parents, Martha is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lane; and siblings, Iris, Mavis, Dorothy, Brenda, George, Arnold (Red), and James. 

A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 2:00pm, at the Eastern Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery in Goldsboro.

Martha is survived by her son, Franklin Dell Whaley; grandson, Michael Dell Whaley; and brother, Kenneth Tingen. She worked in healthcare handling medical records up until her retirement. In her free time, Martha enjoyed painting, traveling, and spending time with her beloved grandson.
