‘No Kings’ Group Plans Clayton Rally Focused On Early Voting

CLAYTON — A local group that has organized previous “No Kings” demonstrations in Johnston County will return to Clayton on Oct. 17, this time with an increased focus on encouraging people to vote.
Indivisible Johnston County will hold “No Kings: Vote Early” rally from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Clayton Town Square.
Organizers say the event will focus on voter participation, early voting information and encouraging eligible residents to make a plan to cast their ballots in the Nov. 3 general election.
The gathering will include music, a march, speeches and a scavenger hunt centered on voting information. A children’s activity will also be offered.
“No Kings: Vote Early is a day of nonpartisan voter participation,” said Mary Blank, co-leader of Indivisible Johnston County. “We are bringing people together to understand their voting options, make a plan to vote early, and make their voices heard. We are taking the next step by turning people power into voter power.”
The national No Kings movement grew out of demonstrations opposing President Donald Trump and policies of his administration.
Organizers nationally have portrayed the movement as a defense of democratic institutions and a protest against what they contend is an expansion of presidential power.
Republican leaders have strongly disagreed with that characterization.
During previous No Kings demonstrations, Republican officials described the events as partisan anti-Trump protests and accused organizers and Democratic supporters of using inflammatory political rhetoric.
Previous No Kings events have drawn large crowds across North Carolina and the nation. Hundreds of people participated in a Clayton demonstration in October 2025 as part of the nationwide movement.

Interesting didn’t know we still had kings
Trump certainly tries to be a king since he prefers to act by fiat rather than rule of law. Of course he has been aided by a Republican majority that abdicated its responsibility.
Your ignorance is showing little buddy.
But i’m still confused by the no king. So you’re saying he tries to be a king but is not a king correct?? So therefor we probably don’t need a no king rally because he is not a king. It’s just laughable and no i’m not a trump supporter by the way. So my statement still stands didn’t know we still had kings.
Freedom of speech is wonderful. Facts are welcome. Attitudes are an impediment. Will choose for freedom and security and will skip this rally.
I support their right to protest. However, I will never understand people who are diehard for either political party. It’s like arguing over which snake you want to bite you, copperhead or cottonmouth. POLITICIANS don’t GAF about you. Stop bending the knee & kissing the right for either side. You are all brainwashed!
Or choosing the less of the two evils. Each party has a hidden agenda. However, as a Veteran it’s all about who will increase my compensation each year, but just like the lottery you have to play to win or actually vote.
While I agree with opposing Trump and his policies… they are doing a disservice with the No Kings slogan…. President Trump can’t be a king no matter what… their are enough check and balances to keep that from happening. A lot of these groups are too progressive for me. As much as I oppose Trump…. the other side isn’t effective at messaging. Hopefully these higher gas prices and food costing much at the grocery store will lead to change at the ballot box.
I’ve always wondered why these happen in the square in Clayton and not Smithfield, which is the county seat. Could it possibly be because the Johnston County Democrat party offices are just down the road In Clayton? My guess is of course it is. Brought to you by the party that hasn’t had a presidential primary since 2016.
Alternate headline: Large Drop in IQ Planned for Oct 17 in Clayton.
NO King is correct…. Most of the people probably don’t follow the one and only true KING. Jesus is the only true King, and these people are legit wasting time and energy on something that doesn’t even matter. No one in the history of “protests” have ever changed their minds or views over a mob of people holding stupid signs and telling you that you are wrong. Go tell people about Jesus with that same energy and you wouldn’t have to worry so much about everything else in this world…
I’m all for freedom of speech and peaceful protest by our citizens as it’s our hard-fought constitutional right. However, these PAID traveling protesters and vote harvesters are a risk to our republic and fraud-free elections. On January 10, 2026, this group had several vehicles loaded with people, signs and WISCONSIN license plates. I still have the photos.
These people are absolutely hilarious. Prices started going up with the Biden administration and the Democrats did nothing to try and lower them. Why do people think they would start now if the won the midterms?
Scalzi, you know what your name means – too poor to afford socks – and that’s just what Trump is trying to do, steal the socks you don’t have. A red vote is a vote for Fascism.
Awww look at Skippy here taking time to Google my last which you still got it wrong. Yet you still bounced around the question in my comment. 🤡
Pathetic
I think there should be an IQ test before anyone should be allowed to vote. Instead of allowing the people who don’t work, (not talking about retirees) or don’t really contribute in anyway to the country, there should be the middle and upper tier making the decisions for the challenged. Like maybe an IQ of 100 and up. If you think about it and don’t just say “its everyones right” it makes sense. As people become less and less intelligent, we should be leaning on the more advanced or at least common sense folks to steer the country. I honestly think we had good intentions where evreyone has the “right” but now not everyone has the sense.
Jesus be the king!
