Middlesex – Mary Elizabeth Adams Pittman, 85, formerly of Micro, peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her family. Born in Johnston County on February 28, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Zeb and Eleanor Elizabeth Barbour Adams.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Clifton “Dick” Pittman; siblings, Ann Lancaster, Ruth McMahon, Inez Raynor, J.L. Adams, Clifton Adams, and W.D. Adams; and a granddaughter, Crissy.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Susan Robertson (Darryl) and Anita Lamm (Charlie); sons, Bruce Pittman and Scottie Pittman (Heather); siblings, Billy Adams (Linda), Zeb Adams, Jr., and Maude Daughtry; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was a dedicated and faithful member of Parrish Memorial Baptist Church. She loved to sing in the church choir and served in many other capacities over the years.
Mary enjoyed countless hours wetting a fishing line, anticipating the tug on the line from her next catch.
Family was paramount to Mary. She enjoyed time spent with her loved ones, especially her great-great-grandbaby.
A service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 in the chapel of Kenly Funeral Service with Pastor Steven Walker officiating. Interment will follow at the Kenly Cemetery. The family will receive friends in from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
