Mary Elizabeth (Lib) Mitchell Allen, 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born February 2, 1933, in Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Noah H. and Ella Eason Mitchell. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Allen Jr.; brother, John H. Mitchell; sisters, Estelle M. Jones, Annie M. Harrell, Sarah L. Mitchell, and Rachel M. Evans; and nephews, Noah L. Jones, John Wayne Garner, and Dennis Harrell.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 10:00am-11:00am at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma. A graveside service will be held following the visitation, at 11:00am at Selma Memorial Gardens.

Mary is survived by her nieces, Debbie Evans (Tim) of Fremont and Connie Bedford (John) of Selma; Niece-in-Law, Denise Harrell of Pittsboro; great-niece, Lindsay B. Robinson; great-nephews, Tyler Bedford, Nick (Ellie) Evans, Justin (Hillary) Harrell, and Cody Harrell; great-great-nephews, Kaleb Robinson, Jaxson Bedford, and Turner Evans; and great-great-nieces, Ashlyn Robinson, Oliva Harrell, Maggie Harrell, and Sadie Harrell.
