    Paul Ressel of Four Oaks, North Carolina died peacefully Friday, January 28, 2022 surrounded by his four daughters.

    He was born November 28, 1936, in Oran Missouri, the third of seven children to Moses and Iva Clara Ressel. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Sedalia, Missouri in 1954.

    In 1960 Paul met Patricia while working for Phillips Pipeline Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He served in the US Army for two years, for a time in Germany. When he got out of the army he married
    Pat and they started their family. In 1962 Phillips moved him to Jacksonville, Florida where their family
    grew. They lived happily in Christ the King Parish for 23 years. In 1992 they moved to Four Oaks, North Carolina. Paul retired from Phillips after 42 years.

    Active in his new church, Paul was a founding member of the St Ann’s Knights of Columbus, always participating in the Fish Fry. He was a member of the Building Committee for the new church, an usher and often a sacristan for daily mass. He did handyman work and mowing at the church and rectory.

    Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia Swieciak Ressel, his son, Steven Ressel and 4 brothers (Charles, Ralph, Donald and Wallace). He leaves behind his siblings Theresa Reynolds and Fred Ressel (Linda Ressel) and his children Susan Ward, Paula Brune (husband Chuck Brune), Ellen Ressel, Theresa Howell (husband Clint Howell) and grandchildren Adam Ward, Joseph Ward (wife Ashley Ward), Matthew Brune, Noah Ressel, Zachary Ressel, Jacob Howell and Eli Howell.

    Funeral Mass will be conducted on Friday, February 4, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church with the burial to follow in Knollwood Memorial Park in Clayton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:45 – 2:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall.

    The family is grateful for the years of excellent care and love of his cardiologist Dr. Franklin Wefald.

    In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to St Ann’s Catholic Church, 4057 US-70 BUS, Clayton, NC 27520.
