Richard “Rick” Anthony Rubino

    Richard Anthony Rubino (Rick), 62, of Acworth, GA, passed away, on March 1, 2024, at his home that he shared with his wife, Sonja, who was formerly of Princeton, NC. He was born on March 24, 1961, in San Rafael, CA. As a child, in a US Navy family, Rick lived in Italy and graduated from Torejon High School in Madrid, Spain. He attended The Music Business Institute in Atlanta, GA, earning an Associate degree in music business. Rick, a beloved husband, son, and brother, was known for his vibrant personality, sense of humor, and zest for life. He was a devout Christian and held patriotic conservative values.

    Rick served in the U.S. Navy from 1983 to 1987 aboard the USS Independence. His dedication and service to his country were exemplary.

    Throughout his career, Rick wore many hats, excelling as a Welder/Metal Fabricator, Audio Engineer, and as the former Owner of Sound Systems Pro Audio and Dynamic Productions, LLC. He was, currently, the proud Owner of Roadrunner Pro Audio, where his passion for music and audio production equipment shone through. He was especially proud of the time he spent mixing front-of-house for the legendary Statler Brothers, as well as other notable artists.

    Everyone was amazed at his talent and skill at being able to build or repair anything!

    In his free time, Rick indulged in a variety of hobbies, from electronics to snow skiing, modifying old Volvo cars, surfing, and skateboarding, showcasing his adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors. He and Sonja loved riding his vintage 1985 Honda CX650 bike around the country sides of North Georgia. His interests in music, which ranged from metal to classical, reflected his eclectic taste. He loved cats, especially his beloved Siamese, Milton, and he enjoyed Native American history and culture.

    He is survived by his loving wife, Sonja Gurley Rubino; his parents, Capt. Salvatore and Sandra Rubino, of Pensacola, FL; his brother, David Rubino of Pensacola, FL; his mother-in-law, Jean Oliver Gurley, of Princeton, NC; brothers-in-law, Van Gurley and Al Gurley and his wife April Gurley, all of Princeton, NC; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

    Rick was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Alton Ralph Gurley, of Princeton, NC.

    A Celebration of Life service will be held at Parrish Funeral Home, 1351 S. Pollock St., Selma, NC 27576, on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 2:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Jonathan Daniels. All are invited to attend. Following the service, a private interment will take place at Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, NC.
