Rose Edwards Peele

    Selma – Rose (Nuse) Edwards Peele, 90, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Smithfield Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on June 15, 1934 in Johnston County, she was daughter to the late Joseph S. Edwards and Lois Rowe Edwards.

    Rose was a member of Micro OFWB Church, where she actively contributed to her community. Amidst all her activities, spending time with family was Rose’s greatest treasure. She had a passion for cooking, often preparing delicious meals for her family and creating cherished memories while caring for her grandchildren. Family gatherings were vibrant celebrations of life, love, and laughter. Rose found joy in meaningful time with her loved ones, reflecting her warm spirit and commitment to family values.

    Rose is survived by her children, Richard Peele and wife, Carolyn of Wilson, Mark Peele and wife, Cindy of Micro, and Debbie Diaz and husband Victor of Kill Devil Hills; her sister, Betty Pharr of Charlotte; her brothers, Bob Edwards and wife, Phyllis of Princeton, Henry Edwards and wife, Ira of LaGrange and J.S. Edwards and wife, Shirley of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; grandchildren, Jamie Howell and husband, Ben, Bobby Peele and wife, Lisa, Dana Ash and husband, Cam, Lauren Hayes and husband, Matt, Zach Peele and wife, Sara and Emily Pittman and husband, Stephen; seven great-grandchildren; and special grand dogs.

    In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Peele; son Donnie Peele and twelve siblings.

    The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Kenly Funeral Service. A graveside service to celebrate Rose’s life will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church Cemetery in Princeton with Pastor Al Warrick and Pastor Gary Bailey officiating.
