Rudine Saunders Brown, 86, of Selma, passed away at UNC Johnston Health, November 26, 2023. She was born January 19, 1937 to the late Joseph Albert and Betty Eason Saunders. Mrs. Brown was the widow of Charles Edward Brown Sr. She was also preceded in death by a sister; Dorothy S. Thompson and brother-in-law, Ray Thompson.
A member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 30 years, she loved her Lord Jesus and her church family. She was a true prayer worrier who interceded on the behalf of many souls. If anyone was in need of prayer, it was said; call Rudine.
In her earlier years she enjoyed cooking and sharing recipes with her Sister Dorothy. One of their highlights was preparing food in anticipation of family gatherings, especially during the Christmas Holidays. There would be mounds of desserts, among which could be found; Orange Slice Cake, Haystacks and Icebox Cake. For the main course there was sure to be chicken pastry, ham, butterbeans
with dumplings and collards on the menu. While she loved us all, her son Eddie was the light of her life. She will be missed, but we live in anticipation of seeing her again on the golden streets of glory.
She is survived by a son; Charles Edward Brown Jr.; brother, Joseph Albert Saunders Jr. (Brenda), nephews and nieces; Steven Thompson (Pam), Joseph “JoJo” Saunders III. (Jennifer), Vickie McGranahan (Mike) and Heather Long (Marion), numerous great nephews and great nieces.
