Sadie Marie Cooper, 92, went home to be with the her Lord on Sunday, March 17, 2024 in Florida with her loving family by her side. Born on November 17, 1931 in Johnston County, she was daughter to the late George Perry Jones and Allie Peacock Jones.
Sadie was a member of Piney Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church where she was involved in Sunday School, a member of the choir and a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She also served as a parishioner volunteer with the Baptist Children’s Home in Middlesex. Sadie loved and enjoyed gardening and shopping with her daughters. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, church family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 28, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Kenly Funeral Service. A service to celebrate her life will be held in the chapel at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Gavin Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in the Peacock Family Cemetery in Kenly.
Sadie is survived by her two daughters, Catherine Cooper Baggett and husband, Mike Cook, Sherry Cooper Lee and husband, Robert; her six grandchildren: Melody Dawn Gurley(Jay Hester), Kerrie Lynne Honeycutt and husband James; Cameron Don Crawford (Christina Creech), Jonathan Robert Lee and wife, Brittney, Tristan Durand Cooper and Camille Cooper Orbik and husband Austin; her eleven great-grandchildren: Taylor Davis Richards, Maxton Arthur Honeycutt, Cael Lincoln Honeycutt, Tyler James Lee, Tanner Chase Lee, Chole Elizabeth Lee, Audriana Rose Lee, Caroline Olivia Lee, Colten Robert Lee, Kane Lee Orbik and Lilith Grace Orbik.
In addition to her parents, Sadie was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Cooper; her son, Jerry Durand Cooper; her sister, Doris Cleo Jones Smith; brothers, M. Kenneth Jones, George Harold Jones and Linwood Woody Jones.
