Selma – Sarah Mildred “Tink” Creech, age 91, was received into the arms of her Lord and Savior on July 30, 2022. She passed away in the comfort of her home, as was her ultimate worldly desire. She was born in Johnston County to the late Arthur and Trencie Corbett on June 14, 1931.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Creech exuded a spirit of giving, which she also demonstrated in her early career choices to serve as a teacher’s aide prior to teaching Adult Basic Education (ABE) courses. For many years, she was also an active member of the former Fairview Presbyterian Church where she served as the Sunday School Teacher in addition to other roles in which she selflessly served in the church.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Creech is preceded in death by her husband, Thel Lee Creech; brothers, Bobby and Billy Corbett; sisters, Pauline Creech, Hazel Batten and Margie Corbett.
She is survived by son, Barry Thel Creech of Selma; daughter, Angela Creech Watson and husband Bob of Clayton; brother, James “Tynce” Corbett of Selma; grandchildren, Amanda Smith and husband Adam of Clayton, Ashlee Watson Barnes and husband Steven of Lucama, Lexi Lee Creech of Selma, Barry Thel Creech Jr. of Princeton; great grandchildren, Tristen Byrd, Kaylee Byrd, Colton Ray Barnes and Ady Smith.
Though she will be greatly missed, the family finds comfort in knowing that Mrs. Creech has found rest and comfort in her heavenly home.
A private graveside service will be held on August 7, 2022.
