Sue Pope Thomas, age 77, passed away Sunday evening, January 1, 2023 in the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born January 24, 1945 she was a daughter of the late Roland and Lanie Ellis Pope. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Lee “Ron” Thomas. Sue was a member of Hephzibah Baptist Church in Princeton.

Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2023 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Pollock and Rev. Josh Williamson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. Friday evening just prior to the service in the chapel. Burial will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in Sunset Memorial Park.

Surviving are her son, Ron Thomas, Jr. and wife Frances of Clayton; daughter, Teresa Thomas Parker and husband Greg of Smithfield; brother, Willard Pope of Princeton; sisters, Joyce Honeycutt of Four Oaks and Bonnie Ward of Raleigh; grandchildren, Casie Parker Kozlowski, Jessica Thomas Coats and husband Aaron, Zack Parker and wife Niki and Chelsea Parker; nineteen great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
