Vaughn Willis Worth Sr.

    Vaughn Willis Worth Sr., age 80, passed away, Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Kitty Askins in Goldsboro. Born October 13, 1941, in LaPorte County, IN he was a son of the late Henry Payne and Syma Klemola Worth. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Worth; son, Vaughn Worth, Jr.; brothers; Reginald Worth, Henry Worth and James Worth; and sisters; Aletha Shumaker, Amber Worth and Athlyn Worth.

    Vaughn graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Criminology. He spent his career serving his community as a police officer. He was a K9 police officer with the DC PD, K9 police officer and K9 trainer for the entire Prince George’s County Police Department, K9 Lieutenant with the City of Wilson Police Department, and was the police chief of Micro PD. He was also a substitute teacher with the Johnston County Public Schools. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Police, Blue Knights NC II. In his spare time, Vaughn enjoyed custom building race and show cars. He was an avid Ham radio operator that loved to ride motorcycles and spend time with his grandchildren.

    Surviving are his children, Glen Worth (Jackie Worth), Darren Worth (Jennifer Worth), Kevin Worth (Keri Worth), Amanda Beasley and Samantha Hamlet (Mark Butler); grandchildren, Brandon Worth, Colton Beasley, Alaina Hamlet and Kyra Butler; and siblings, Ardella Rohrback, Artamae Worth, Annette Mims, Alan Worth and Carveth Worth.

    Special thanks to the staff at 3HC Hospice, Home Hospice nurse, Amy Ogletree RN and many aids that assisted with his home care, as well as Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro for such great care, love and support to our family and dad.
