Clayton-William Richard Turner, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Enclave Assisted Living Facility in Clayton. Born in LaGrange Georgia on November 10, 1929, he was the son of the late William Harold Turner and Paula Jones Turner. William grew up in more difficult times and knew hard work at a young age. His mother worked in the cotton mills and William learned from his childhood experiences how to work his way up to be successful in his life.
William graduated from the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech with a degree in Business and Industrial Engineering. He worked as an executive in the field of manufacturing, and was also a business plant manager of Sylvania in Smithfield, NC. In his free time, William enjoyed running, playing tennis, and swimming. William was said to be a devoted man of faith who was very kind and patient. He was a quiet man a good listener, and never had a bad thing to say about anybody.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 PM, just prior to the service.
He is survived by daughters, Jennifer Martin and husband Glenn of Garner; Betsy Clark of Clayton; grandchildren, Sheri Donohue of Clayton; Leigh Ann Bissette of Raleigh; Sara Creech of Wendell; great grandchildren, Cameren Allen of Four Oaks; Amber Bissette of Princeton; Kayla Childers of Smithfield; and two great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving companion Trudi Stalev and her family.
