Angier, NC: Mr. William Vaughn Stephenson, age 62, of Old Stage Road North passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 5:00PM at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Rev. Scott Betts and Mr. Thurman McLamb.
Vaughn was born on December 21, 1959 in Johnston County to the late William Clem and Lola Jean McGee Stephenson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rhonda Stephenson Jones and his beloved dog, Lucky. Vaughn was a 1978 graduate of South Johnston High School where he played football and was an All-Star baseball player. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved telling stories of the past. Vaughn loved his pets, Dixie and Jack. He retired from Southbend after 20 years of service.
Surviving include his wife of 38 years, Vicki Arnold Stephenson; daughter, Nanda Jones and husband, Jonathan of Pine Level; grandchildren, Taylor and Levi Jones; sisters, Sandra Stephenson Strickland and husband, Ronnie of Selma, and Amy Stephenson of McGee’s Crossroads; brother-in-law, Shane Jones of Surf City; nieces and nephews, Lt. Col. Stephen Barbour and wife, Dr. Amy M. Barbour of Georgia, Jeffrey Barbour of Benson, Kristen Pleasant of Texas, Kayla Hundley and husband, Jesse of Smithfield, Seth McLamb and wife, Rachel of Moyock, NC; great-niece and nephew, Hannah and Landon Barbour, Jones and Lou McLamb.
The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service.
