Alice Hartley, 78 of Princeton transitioned to her reward on Tuesday June 11, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born June 18, 1940 to the late William Albert Sasser & Minnie Killette Sasser Overton. She was married for 59 years to the late Bishop David (Pete) Hartley. Alice served alongside her husband in his ministry with the Church of God of Prophecy for 51 years. She was a member of the Johnson Community Church of God of Prophecy and was well known for her love and compassion for people. She enjoyed cooking for her family & friends. She loved spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Alice is survived by sons Eugene & Darlene Hartley and Jesse & Karen Hartley and daughter Catina Hartley all of Princeton. 6 grandchildren Danielle (Robbie) Wilkerson, Megan (Dustin) Gilenwater, Johnathan (Caitlin) Hartley, Lorenda Hartley, Alexis and Caitlyn Grimes all of Princeton. 6 great grandchildren Robert and David Wilkerson, Madilynn Taylor, Glory, Josiah, and Sophia Hartley all of Princeton. Step great granddaughter Destiny Gillenwater. Sisters Catherine Sykes and Joyce Craft of Pikeville. Brother Charlie Sasser (Debbie) of Woodstock Georgia.
Preceded in death by brothers Tommy Sasser and David Sasser and sisters Margaret Powell, Rachel Martin and Hazel Seymour.
Service to celebrate her life will be held at Parrish Funeral Home Friday evening, June 14. Visitation will be 6 to 7pm with service beginning at 7pm with Bishop Eugene Hartley and Rev. Jesse Hartley officiating. Burial will be Saturday at 10am at Princeton cemetery.
