Selma – Alma Ruth Woodard Jones, age 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 29, 2021, in Transitions Hospice Care in Raleigh. She was born a daughter of the late Rufus and Lizzie Woodard on March 12, 1933, in Wilson County. She is preceded in death by her husband, Linwood Earl Jones, son, Alvin Jones, daughter, Doris McDaniel, and many siblings. Mrs. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She loved her family and always took good care of them all. She was a devoted member of the Selma Church of God and she loved being involved in God’s work. She loved baby dolls, working in the yard, rock collecting, arts, crafts, and spending time with her family. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma, with the burial to follow in Selma Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.
She is survived by her son, Ricky Earl Jones (wife Barbara) of Duncan, daughter, Alma Louise Johnson (husband Garry) of Selma, son-in-law, Buddy McDaniel, daughter-in-law, Patricia Wheeler, sister, Shirley Bogart of Yadkinville, grandchildren, Brian Johnson (wife April), Billy Johnson (wife Julie), Phillip McDaniel (wife Angie), Rodney Jones (wife Malisa), Carrie Johnson (husband Blake), Josh Jones (wife Samiera), Jeremy Jones (wife Jenny), sixteen great grandchildren, great-great grandson, Frankie Lee, many nieces and nephews.
