    Deceased Date: 04/10/2021

Smithfield, N.C. Angeline “Angie” Faye Johnson Bryant died Saturday, April 10, 2021. Born October 29, 1939, Angie was the daughter of the late Edward Eli and Ava Ruth Byrd Johnson. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Bobby Wilton Bryant, sisters Margie Johnson Pope (Harold), Lettie Oneice Jones (Bud), and brother Bobby Jerold Johnson (Margie). Surviving are her son Steven Bobby Bryant of the home, brother Bill G. Johnson of Smithfield, and several nieces and nephews. Angie cherished her family, friends, community, and her church.

A graduate of Smithfield High School, Angie attended Hardbarger Business School and Johnston Technical Institute. Her professional career spanned 33 years with the North Carolina Department of Insurance where she served in the administrations of commissioners Lanier, Ingram, and Long.

For more than 25 years, Angie was a faithful, active member of Pisgah Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and served on various committees, her favorite being Relay for Life. After retirement, she was appointed to The Johnston County Heritage Center Commission and served for 3 years. She enjoyed traveling and visited England, Switzerland, Germany, Greece, and Israel. An avid gardener, Angie felt closer to nature and God when working in her gardens of daffodils, day lilies, and bearded iris. On her many garden tours, she always returned with another plant, usually an English or American boxwood. She considered Charleston and Williamsburg as small glimpses of heaven.
