On April 9, 1955 Annie married the love of her life Michael (Mickey) Donovan Sutton and they have had 65 wonderful years of marriage together. They met at Queen Street United Methodist Church in Kinston, NC as children in Sunday School and joined the church together at ages 10 and 11, thus they have known one another for over 80 years. Annie was a homemaker and raised two daughters: Julie Sutton Claywell of Asheville, NC and Laura Sutton Hurt of Smithfield, NC. She shared immeasurable cups of coffee with cherished friends and neighbors at her kitchen table and on her porch. Playing bridge with “the Ladies,” traveling with her husband, and spending time in a porch rocker were among her favorite pastimes. Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings spent singing with the Chancel Choir at Centenary United Methodist Church were the highlight of her week for over 60 years.
