Kenly, North Carolina – Barbara Jo Parrish Godwin, age 71, of Kenly, NC, went to be with the lord on Saturday, December 5, 2020. Born August 2, 1949 in Johnston County she was a daughter of the late Walton “Sam” Parrish and Mazie Parrish in Kenly, NC. Barbara retired as the Human Resources Director of Fords Produce in Raleigh. A member of Watkins Chapel Church, she thrived on the many meaningful relationships she had with her church family. Her greatest passion was serving in the role of grandmother. Her time was spent supporting the numerous activities of her grandchildren. Known by many as “Nana”, she relished in the opportunity to serve others and found genuine pleasure in the enjoyment of those around her.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2020 in Watkins Chapel Church Cemetery with Rev. Eddie Burroughs officiating.
She is survived by her son Jason Godwin, wife Christy and grandchildren Colby and Meredith of Kenly. She is also survived by her siblings Phil Parrish of Wendell, Jackie Parrish of Clinton, Jill Hinnant of Sneads Ferry, and Tim Parrish of Kenly.
