Betty “Sue” Norris Pendergraft, age 61, passed away unexpectedly on July 7, 2018. Born in Johnston County on September 16, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Ed Norris and Dorothy Beasley. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Hilda Helms. Sue attended Princeton High School and later worked at both Faye’s Sandwich Company and Morganite. She was a loving wife, mother and Granny. Sue enjoyed spending time with her husband, the love of her life. She loved to read and spend time with her children and grandchildren. The beach and mountains were her favorite places to visit. Her last two weeks were spent with her husband, grandchildren and daughters at the mountains and the beach.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 9, at 7:00 PM in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with Rev. Shane Slaughter officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6-7 PM, just prior to the service and at other time at the home of Christy Norris, 56 Whitley Way, Smithfield, NC 27577. Burial will be on Tuesday, July 10, at 11:00 am in the Piney Grove Church Cemetery near Four Oaks.
Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Bobby Ray Pendergraft; daughters, Christy Norris and husband Chuck, Melissa Pendergraft, grandchildren Jordan Norris, Makayla and Maleigha Perdergraft, step-children, Robert Pendergraft, Bobbie Jo Hales and husband JW, step-grandchildren, Bradley and Michael Pendergraft, Chasity and Zachary Hales, sister Brenda Stanley and husband Mack, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved.
