Brenda Kay Watkins Thorne, age 55, of Selma passed away unexpectedly at her home on July 6, 2018. Born in Wilson County on June 18, 1963, she was the daughter of Floyd and Dida Vick Watkins of Selma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Royce Kent Thorne and an infant son, Wesley Allen Thorne. Brenda was the Town Clerk for the Town of Selma and was a member of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church near Kenly.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 9, at 11:00 am in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with Rev. Daniel Arant officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery at Bethany Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 10-11 AM, just prior to the service.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her son, Jonathan Kent Thorne of Selma; her daughter, Morgan Ashley Thorne of Selma; and her brother, Steve Watkins of Smithfield.
