Beulah Thompson Peedin

    Beulah Faye Thompson Peedin, 89, tranquilly passed away at Smithfield Nursing and Rehab Center on the evening of March 4, 2019. She went to join her husband of fifty-two plus years, the late Kenneth Gray Peedin (Sr.) in Heaven. Mrs. Peedin was born to the late Pearlie Overbee and Millard Preston Thompson (Sr.)
    She was preceded in death by brother M.P. Thompson, Jr., and sisters Gladys Mobley, Lissie Langdon, Claybourn Snipes, and Callie Gray Thompson.

    Mrs. Peedin grew up in the farming community of Brogden during the Great Depression. She was a 1951 graduate of Princeton High School and earned a degree in Secretarial Science from King’s Business College in Raleigh.

    Mrs. Peedin was an adoring mother and wife. She was a member of Stevens Chapel Baptist Church, of the Pine Level American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, and the Southland Car Club. She enjoyed sewing, listening to music, and gardening. Mrs. Peedin fancied square dancing and was a member of the Triangle Squares team with her husband. She made many of their costumes.

    Retiring from IBM Research Triangle Park as an Executive Secretary, she and her husband raised beef cattle in the Boon Hill community. Throughout her life she was the consummate hard worker. Her steadfast love for and devotion to others have left a lasting mark on those who knew her.

    Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, March 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 8 beginning at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield. The Reverends Vernon Braswell and Marvin Ownley will officiate.

    Mrs. Peedin is survived by her loving children Faye Peedin Riggsbee of Southern Pines, daughter Besty Ann and husband Donald Maddox of Pittsville, MD, and son Kenneth Gray Peedin, Jr. of Princeton; grandsons Adam Patrick Riggsbee of Southern Pines, Phillip Andrew Riggsbee of Richmond, VA, Sean Michael Brittingham of Salisbury, MD, Daniel Jacob Brittingham of Pittsville, MD, Kenneth Gray Peedin, III of Charlotte, and Morgan Lessell Peedin of Asheville; granddaughter Katie Nicole Brittingham and husband Ryan Clark and great-granddaughter Marilyn Harper Clark of Pittsville, MD; sister Connie Godwin of Pine Level; brothers Harold Thompson and his wife Cathy of Clayton and Sherrill Thompson and wife Jean of Smithfield; and many intimate nieces, nephews, and friends.
