    Billy Alton Thorpe was known to his family and friends like Al and was born on August 11, 1948, in Smithfield, North Carolina to Jessie Mae Thorpe and the late Andrew Thorpe, Jr. Our Heavenly Father called him on a home on July 3, 2020. Al was a devoted father, a loving fiancé, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Our father, Al attended school at William Mason Cooper School. He worked on the family farm until he started his career as a Brick Mason. He worked with David Grantham and the Williams Brother Masonry until he decided to go into his sole proprietor with his business “Thorpe Masonry” which he was very proud of. Al in his early years he loved to go down to the racetrack and race cars. His love for cooking came from his upbringing and working at Watson Seafood. In his later years, he enjoyed watching sports, going to the casino, traveling, and taking his mother out for their weekly rides to Bojangles. Also, not to mention he was a diehard UNC Fan. His true happiness came from his children and grandchildren, he was exceptional in his role of Daddy and Papa. Al was preceded in death by his sister Vivian Denise Thorpe. He leaves to cherish, his precious memories his lovely fiancé Keturah Foye; two (2) sons Roderick Clark(Tracey) and Gregory Hinton all of Clayton NC; two (2) daughters, KaSette Clark and Sherika Hinton all of Clayton, NC; six (6) grandchildren; Adrian Smith of Clayton, NC, Rodkia Clark of Greensboro, NC, Tajah Clark, Tahiara Clark, Jaden Bryant, Kabari Brantley, all of Clayton, NC and three (3) great-grandchildren; Elias Johnson, Karter Smith, and Seven Borders all of Clayton, NC, four (4) brothers; Gene “Bobby” Thorpe (Joanne) of Raleigh NC, Douglas Terry (Constance) of Middlesex, NC, Andrew Thorpe, Washington, DC, and Larry Thorpe (Glady’s) of Laurel MD; four (4) sisters Jessie Holliday (Audrey), Cornelia “Ellen” Thorpe all of Clayton, NC, Joyce Thorpe, and Phyllis Thorpe all of Washington, DC. One (1) Aunt; Hattie Powell, Raleigh, NC. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
