Smithfield, NC: Mr. Billy Randolph Kornegay, age 82, of Patricia Drive died Wednesday at the Brian Center in Clayton. Memorial Service will be Sunday 3:00PM at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson, NC. Officiating will be Pastor Mack Fowler.
Mr. Kornegay was born October 26, 1934 in Johnston County to the late Alvin and Ruth Wooten Kornegay. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Alvin Kornegay, Jr. and sister, Dorothy Mitchner. Mr. Kornegay was a veteran of the US Army 82nd Airborne. He also made many friends during his years working as owner of Bill’s Union 76 in Zebulon and with Siemens in Wendell.
Surviving are wife of 55 years, Myrtle Clifton Kornegay; children and spouses, Stuart Barbour of Zebulon, Cynthia and Charles Cashwell of Key Largo, FL; granddaughter, Carrie Barbour of Austin, TX; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Rose & Graham Funeral Home.
