Bobby Everette Bissette

    Bobby Everette Bissette, age 89, of Smithfield passed away on November 3, 2020. Born in Wilson County on September 2, 1931, he was the son of the late Roney and Maye Glover Bissette. He was also preceded in death by his brother James Bissette and his infant son David Thomas Bissette.

    Mr. Bissette grew up in Wilson County and graduated from Rock Ridge High School. His home has been in Smithfield for the last 30 years. He was a retired Highway Inspector for the NC Department of Transportation.

    Bobby enjoyed his vegetable garden, Braves baseball and his church, Sharon Baptist in Smithfield. He was one of the first volunteer members of the Rock Ridge Fire Department in the early 1960’s and he later volunteered with Johnston Health. He was also an active volunteer in the local prison and truck stop ministries.

    Surviving are his children, Susan Bissette Smith (Jerry), Tim Bissette (Ginger), Frank Bissette (Harriet), and Monica Bissette Massey (Chris); his sister, Patricia Bissette Shaw (Caswell); and his grandchildren, Amanda Bissette Batchelor, Adam Bissette (Keli) and Randy Bissette; as well as nieces and nephews.

    Bobby chose to donate his body for study and research at UNC School of Medicine. Memorial plans will be announced at a later date.
